About Joseph
Beyond work
Curious about the world. Active in it.
Outside of work and school, Joe closely follows global affairs, business, economics, emerging technology, investing, and current events. Staying informed is part of his daily routine, particularly where global events, markets, business, and technology intersect.
Joe also prioritizes health, fitness, and time outdoors. He enjoys golf, hiking, pickleball, and strength training. His approach to fitness reflects the same discipline he brings to his work and education: set a goal, build a routine, measure progress, and keep improving.
Joe Schummer is an early-career business professional building a career in supply chain, procurement, logistics, and operations. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration with majors in Finance and Global Supply Chain Management from Wayne State University’s Mike Ilitch School of Business and is currently pursuing an MBA with a concentration in Global Supply Chain Management.
His professional experience began in the restaurant industry, where he progressed into management and gained hands-on experience leading teams, managing inventory, solving day-to-day operational problems, and working in a fast-paced environment where communication, accountability, and execution mattered.
Through his university coursework and project work, Joe has expanded that practical foundation into supply chain, finance, procurement, operations, and business analysis. He is particularly drawn to understanding how the individual pieces of a business work together, identifying problems, evaluating information, and developing practical solutions.
Joe has also developed experience with digital tools and emerging technology through independent and project-based work. He actively uses AI tools for research, problem solving, content development, and workflow improvement. His hands-on projects have included developing his own professional website as well as supporting a small business with website content, Shopify administration, and social media life-cycle management.
Highly self-motivated and disciplined, Joe has found that he performs best when working toward clear goals and measurable progress. He brings curiosity, persistence, and a strong sense of ownership to learning new systems and tackling unfamiliar problems. He is currently pursuing Six Sigma Green Belt training to further develop his understanding of process improvement and operational efficiency.
Joe is seeking an opportunity to translate his education, leadership experience, and developing technical skills into a professional role where he can contribute, learn quickly, and grow within supply chain, procurement, logistics, or operations.
